Too many Veterans do NOT know what the VA covers for a them when a they pass away.
I discovered this through helping hundreds more Veterans over the last 8 years, and not only did it surprise me, it also made me want to do something about it because I married into a Military family.
This is a breakdown of exactly what is paid to Veteran’s
$2,000 = For service-related deaths the VA will pay up to $2,000 toward burial expenses
$796 = For non-service-related deaths the VA will pay up to $796 toward burial and funeral expenses (Only if hospitalized by VA at time of death).
$300 = If not hospitalized by the VA at the time of death the VA will pay $300 toward burial and funeral expenses.
$796 = plot internment allowance is available to veterans that are NOT buried in a national cemetery.
Here are the 3 scenario’s
$2796 For service-related deaths plus the plot allowance (Most veterans death will be non-service-related)
$1096: Is the most a Veteran can get if he/she do NOT hospitalized by the VA at the time of death.
$1592: Is the most a Veteran can get if he/she, is hospitalized by the VA at the time of death. (an extra $496 for a VA death)
The average cost of cremation is $2,500. (That’s a difference of $1,404)
The average cost of a funeral is $12,000. (That’s a difference of $10,904)
You funeral is 100% covered is misconception and is a major issue that I see out in the field. I have put together a video to help better educate Veterans & Service Members to show them the best way to protect their families and assets and also leave an amazing Legacy.
Insurance must be customized for you and your situation not cookie cutter like VGLI and not only covering a fraction of you funeral cost.
Your family will always come first; you wouldn`t want them to have to bear the financial burden of your last days. No matter what your age, it`s always good to have a plan as to how you intend to cover these costs. Final expense insurance will pay for your funeral service and other associated costs.
Your standard of living is important to you. Should you be taken ill or suffer mobility problems further down the road, we want you to lead the most comfortable life you possibly can. Long term care insurance makes this possible. It also lifts the burden of care from those around you, improving the standard of living for everyone you hold dear.
We know about the benefits and pitfalls of group versus single insurance policies; employer sponsored health plans; term versus whole life and other insurance `gray areas` that customers often wish to better understand. Please don`t hesitate to call us with your questions, no matter whether you are a valued customer, a potential one, or if you simply need advice.
